Successful Community Development creates diverse, strong, balanced communities that meet the needs of their residents. It directly impacts the quality of life and services in a city by providing resources and care for everyone, including those segments of society that are frequently under-represented – the young and the elderly, the impoverished, and the disabled. This can mean working together with local entities to support education programs, address accessibility issues, provide resources for basic needs, and improve public spaces and operations such as libraries, schools, and parks. These efforts attract new residents and businesses, improve work and living environments, and encourage a strong community spirit.

The City of Clifton Community Development Director is committed to working in unity to make Clifton an even better place to live, work, and celebrate. The director utilizes resources and coordinates efforts at the local, county, state, and federal levels to strengthen and diversify Clifton’s assets and capabilities. These tools are then available to residents to work collaboratively to shape a stronger community and improved quality of life.

Encouraging everyone to engage in city matters is critical to successfully meeting the needs of the community. Only when all perspectives and sectors are heard and respected in city planning can a community truly thrive and continue a steady path of growth and improvement. When citizens engage in city planning and support critical community components, a wealthier, healthier population emerges, unified to meet the challenges that arise. Graduation rates and job opportunities increase. Crime and poverty rates decrease. These factors encourage business retention, diversification, and expansion and result in a happier, more rewarding life for all residents.
